Why we serve
-
If God has given us so much, how can we go on living for ourselves? In Romans 12:1–2 we are urged to “offer our lives as living sacrifices” in response to God’s mercy towards us. Sacrifices in the Old Testament had many purposes, one of which was an act of wholehearted devotion.
-
What does it mean to be a “living sacrifice”? Well in the verses that follow (Romans 12:3–8) we are encouraged to prophesy, serve, teach, encourage, give, lead, show mercy, etc. Exercising the everyday opportunities and spiritual gifts that God gives us are how we express our wholehearted devotion to God.
-
It takes time and energy to organise and run our services, to equip and sharpen our people and to love and care for our members. As we each seek to express our devotion to God we are building a big family of transformed individuals who love and serve the Lord Jesus.
To help us do this, we’re keen for all of our regular members to fill in the ‘Spring into Ministry’ form.
Over the coming weeks the ministry staff will work through the forms to match your expressions of interest with areas of need.
How we serve
As a church, our values are compassion for people, gospel clarity and moral integrity. Our prayer is that these values will be what characterises everything we do, from seen to the unseen, from the formal to the informal.
