Ablaze is a space to focus on the issues unique and relevant to the Baby Boomer generation (55–75 years) and to consider how to make the most of the rest of your life.
Caring for Each Other
Jesus said that his disciples will be known by how we love each other. As people put their trust in Jesus, they become part of a community that cares deeply for each other as well as those outside the community of faith. Our next event will help us care as the body of Christ—neither burning out through over commitment or rusting out through under commitment but going the distance faithfully and wisely.
We all need support at various stages of our life and particularly as we get older. It takes humility to allow others to show care for us and generosity and wisdom to care for others. In many ways we are all “wounded healers”.
The event will cover questions such as: How do we access support? How do we offer support? When do we need professional support beyond our Christian friends? How do we know when we have reached the end of our capacity to care? To whom do we refer people? Should we spend time on our own self-care?
Justine Jenner, pastoral care worker, will be joined by Kim Morris who is reasonably new to our church. She and her husband, Wayne are part of the 9am Factory congregation. Kim, until recently was on staff at Multicultural Bible Ministry (MBM) at Rooty Hill and now continues with her own counselling practice.
